I’m telling you: it’s really bad about violating social networking sites’ policies and guidelines (using swear words, threats of violence/death, trolling etc.), you know, that’s mean. They can ban your IP address permanently, and you could get in trouble. Really — this includes stealing images/photographs that you do not own/did not take without the original artist/photographer or copyright holder’s written authorization, you mean collecting images from the internet and using them in your website/gallery/layout avatars/blogs/etc. You can read these useful WikiHows here or here — also here — about avoiding acting idiotic when having fun on the internet, you know about social networking sites policies/guidelines.
The “RCT Locomotion” handle (my first handle) has been it’s own victim: Violating policies, such as stealing images/photographs which is/are owned by the original artist/photographer (except the Pennsylvania lake photograph on the WordPress blog banner, which is taken by myself in summer 2007, also the picture of me, photographing from mirror-to-mirror in the avatar).
Here’s the whole story…
2000/2001: My first Chuck Taylors were white (they get dirty most of the time), bought it from Marshall’s, then the black ones from Marshall’s (again).
2005: I got my first HP laptop from Circuit City (now defunct).
mid/late 2006: My IP address (and its internet service provider) were banned permanently on Wikimedia Foundation’s wikis because I was violating policies/guidelines. So they won’t let me back ever again unless I move out. Making “violent protests” are bad, and you could get in trouble for that.
April 10, 2007: I changed my online handle to “coryrobertsintokyo” on my Vox blog when I started Vox when I was 17 years old. One month later, I started my “RCT-Radio” handle on Last.fm in May. Then in August, I started tweeting on my Twitter account.
Mid-2007: Many people are blocking me from their Flickr because of fd’s Flickr Toys’ Mosaic Maker and the dumpr.net add-on because I was found stealing their photographs, also the dictations what they’re not allowed to put on Flickr.
December 2007: After my IP was banned more than a year, the “RCT Locomotion” handle looks like a confusing online handle. The Wikimedia Foundation staff (the owners of Wikipedia/Wiktionary/Wikibooks etc.) said that semi-protection tags are important, and making protests of the important tags violates their policies.
February 2008: Two months later, the Wikipedia “police” write again. They just said the following: “We have reviewed your account, and have decided to not grant your appeal. You have continued to violate our policies and guidelines, time and time again (…) your IP address (along with your WP account) will remain permanently banned.” So they disabled my ISP and my IP permanently, so I have to move to another IP address by buying a new home in the city of Rahway by using the RE/MAX website.
Late 2008: I bought my red Chucks that I had for 6 months (late 2008-mid 2009). I wouldn’t keep them, so I threw them out.
February-July 2009:
- February 01: after Super Bowl 43, there was a “Boom, roasted!” quote while I was lucky enough to catch The Office after the super bowl.
- February 28: The Flickr staff deleted my first Flickr after numerous complaints about my behavior.
- May 28: I opened another Flickr account with the Flickr URL, “coryrobertsflickr”, because “coryroberts” was taken by another Flickr member, after my first Flickr was deleted without warning.
- July: I apologized to them and changed to Adidas Superstars from Chuck Taylor All-Stars after 8 continuous years of Chucks/the damage of the internet 3 years ago, Adidas Superstars have arch support, they’re nicknamed the “shell shoes”.
As of now, most IP addresses in the County of Essex are banned permanently/broken due to the cancellation of my former wiki accounts. Of course, violating social networking sites’ policies and guidelines can kick a person off the internet.
And that’s the full story. I think the full incident proves that.
As previously posted, this blog is going out of beta. I’m getting my domain, www.coryroberts.net from Just Host, and install the WordPress blogging tool. More information is on my Vox blog.
